Uh-Oh
How One Janitor Changed It All
How One Janitor Changed It All
Quiet, silver-haired custodian Mr. Oliver Jenkins, a fixture at the school for nearly 40 years, was known for his warm smile and calm demeanor. Few knew his secret passion: dance.
Denied social events as a youth, including his own prom, he'd spent that night dancing alone in his basement. Decades later, as the school's custodian, he watched countless proms, secretly honing his skills in empty classrooms.
Now, nearing retirement, Oliver faced his final prom. As he began mopping the gym, the music stirred something within him. On his last night, he made a decision. As the final dance ended, he stepped onto the floor—not as a custodian, but as a dancer.
Initially confused, the students watched as Oliver's body moved with unexpected sharpness and smoothness. His years of hidden passion erupted in a mesmerizing display of grooves and popping. The room fell silent, then erupted in applause. Oliver smiled. This was his prom, his dance, his moment.
Uh oh, the party was over at last, and duty called. It was time to nudge the remaining revelers out the door and tackle the post-prom mess, albeit with a new spring in his step.
I can’t believe we almost WALKED OUT before we saw what Mr. Jenkins could do!
We could have danced all night.
This mop doubles as a 'get out of my gym' wand. Uh oh.
The only prom king who also knows how to fix a leaky faucet.
When he is not in a fictional prom story made for a dance routine, Austin can be found doing nothing, playing video games, or testing the boundaries of his free will. Here are a couple of places you will not find him: an actual prom
Ken is a talented DJ and dancer with a passion for popping. He enjoys both listening to and creating music, running cross country, and dance battles are his jam!
When he's not busy getting escorted out of prom by a cranky janitor or refining his dance skills, you can find Landon dominating the digital gaming world, eating licorice or pumping iron at the gym.
Lucas is a gamer, enjoys exploring creatively with Legos, and is also an avid reader. When he’s not immersed in a virtual world or story, you can find him lighting up the dance floor until the party gets shut down.
Magma is a wild skier who treats slopes like crash-test dummies, a Taekwondo future black belt who high-kicks anything nearby (RIP that innocent toaster), and a popping dancer who moves like a robot with loose screws. You better watch out for this janitor.
Nicholas is the street styles director at ENCORE Performing Arts Center, visionary, leader, and choreographer of this popping crew. He has also been known to throw out a sick move or two while sweeping floors.
